For Training Yards looking for help to gain funding

 D
o you have trainees?

Do you need help to gain funding?

Are you good at training but find the prospect of more paperwork an impossibility?

If you have answered "yes" please read on ...

Summerhouse is one of the only Training Providers to : -

  1. Deal with the mountain of paperwork.
  2. Access NVQ funding on your behalf from the Government.
  3. Allow your trainees to work on a training allowance & train within the constraints of the minimum wage.
  4. Help ALL learners & employers to gain worthwhile qualifications to strengthen your business and improve their own satisfaction.
  5. Provide Key Skills Training, including Communication, Information Technology, Numeracy & Working With Others to further enhance your staff's business skills.

    Is there a catch?
  1. Funding is only available for trainees aged between 16-25 years.
  2. You continue to provide good quality training.
  3. Allow us to visit every 12 weeks to complete the necessary paperwork.
  4. Allow us to collect Health & Safety Data & Assessments.
  5.  When a trainee completes an NVQ Apprenticeship, you will receive a payment of between £250 to £450 depending on the amount of assessment support supplied by Summerhouse and the number of learners on your yard.

Funding Details
Summerhouse is funded by the Government for the following: -
  1. To enrol learners on an NVQ and Key Skills programme with the City and Guilds.
  2. To oversee their training & provide additional training as necessary
  3. To deal with the necessary audits & Adult Learning Inspectorate.
  4. These Inspections take place every 4 years (as per Ofsted) & the gradings range between
    1-5, 1 being the best & 5 the worst. A low grading i.e. 4 or 5 warrants re-inspection yearly until
an acceptable standard is reached. LSC's may not re-contract with yards with grades of 4 or 5.
Summerhouse are proud to announce a "Grade 1", with high praise for our support for Yard
Locations which include Talland School of Equitation (see ALI  website).

  5. Each learner has an NVQ Level 2 or 3 portfolio to include Key Skills provided by Summerhouse.
  6. These portfolios are updated to show the trainees work based training at each particular yard

  7. When a learner is fully competent a qualified assessor from Summerhouse will assess the learner, checking they are of the required standard. Alternatively we can train employers at each yard to become assessors.

  8. When the portfolio is completed it is
           i.   Checked by an Internal Verifier from Summerhouse.
ii.  Checked by an External Verifier from City and Guilds.
           iii.  A certificate is issued.
iv.  Certificate is sent to the LSC.
           v.   LSC then release the outcome funding.
           vi.  Summerhouse pays the yard.

  9. The outcome payment received depends on:
          i.  The amount of training & assessing completed by Summerhouse.
ii. The amount of training & assessing completed by the Yard

One-Day NVQ Assessor Training Courses
Summerhouse is a City and Guilds Centre for awarding A1, Assessors Award (Level 3) & V1, Internal Verifiers Award (Level 4) certificates. We can provide a complete training programme  for assessors and internal verifiers to achieve their qualifications and certification.

    maximum funding available.

What if you or your learners don't want to do NVQ’s - or, what if you're unsure about doing NVQs - but need funding for training?

Whether you wish to train for BHS, ABRS or NVQ exams,  NVQ’s are the answer.

Read on ...

  • Many people are still wary of NVQs as they are a new style, workbased qualification.
  • People do not realise that they can continue to train for their BHS or ABRS exams, as the syllabuses are almost identical to NVQs.
  • The main difference is that the government currently only fund NVQs.
  • If a trainee has BHS Stage 2 they only have to do a small part of the NVQ Level 2 to gain
a NVQ Level 2 & Key Skills qualification, leading to an Apprenticeship.
  • If a trainee has BHS Stage 3 they only have to do part of the NVQ Level 3 to gain an NVQ Level
3 & Key Skills qualification, leading to an Advanced Apprenticeship
  • NVQ's are ideal for people who suffer from exam nerves, because you do not have to take a final exam,(with the exception of a paper based Technical Certificate to be completed at the work place). An NVQ qualification is gained through continual work based assessment.
  • All NVQs can be used to gain direct entry to BHS exams.
  • ie NVQ Level 2 in Horse Care (Riding) – direct entry to BHS Stage 2 or BHS Stage 3
  • ie NVQ Level 3 in Horse Care & Management (Riding) – direct entry to BHS Stage 2, 3 or 4.

 Key Skills

Summerhouse is a City & Guilds Keys Skills Training Centre.  We can provide a complete training
programme for candidates and assessors to achieve their Key Skills qualifications and certification.

We have a special Keys Skills unit with 9 computers and access to completed key skills portfolio work

which show how Key Skills are used every day in the work place.

What are Key Skills?

There are certain basic or "key" skills, which we all need to help us find and hold down a job.
These include literacy, numeracy, working in a team and self-analysis. Employers are keen to recruit people with proven ability in these areas.

What does the course cover?

  • Communication
  • Information Technology
  • Application of Numbers
  • Working with Others

The Key Skills course is an additional part of your NVQ training which helps keep you up to date with the IT age. As more and more yards have computers this is a necessary part of your training.

Key Skills also provide a recognised level of achievement in customer relations, your own learning/performance, and your ability to work as part of a team of people.
Although these skills are associated with office jobs, they are now becoming an invaluable part of the horse industry.

Key Skills is a qualification that you can complete alongside the NVQ training at any level and many of the skills will be encompassed within the training. If there are any skills that are not part of the NVQ level that you are doing, then they will be covered at the end of the course.

Key Skills have been designed to help you with your day to day job in communicating with colleagues and clients. Later you will learn about booking lessons, answering the telephone, using a computer for training aids and your portfolio.

  Part Time Adult Courses
Have you always wanted a "Horsey" qualification, but not had the time or money?

Are you currently looking after horses or teaching people to ride & would like to gain a recognised qualification?

Do you ride for pleasure but would like to learn more about the care & theory of the horse?

I
f you have answered "yes", then enrol on a part time course at Summerhouse.
The training is Subsidised.

What's the catch? You agree to enroll for a minimum of 6 hours guided learning hours per week. This may be fitted in at evenings & weekends to suit your individual lifestyle (missed hours may be carried over to another week).

In return we will train you for the qualification of your choice:
  • NVQ Level 1, 2 or 3
  • BHS Stage 1, 2
  • ABRS Level 1, 2.
  • Provide you with the necessary handouts, training tools & assessments
  • Provide training up to 450 hours between August & July
